DESCRIPTION

The Moolman Group – in partnership with the PHG GROUP and Braam van Huyssteen – is currently in the process of redeveloping and expanding the Brightwater Commons site.


The vision: transforming a high-potential ineffectual site into a vibrant mixed-use development to uplift and benefit the entire community. A prime component in this redevelopment will be the new Ferndale on Republic community shopping centre – a functional shopping centre designed to cater to the surrounding residents’ daily needs, directly improving their way of life.


Ferndale on Republic will comprise of approximately 53 000 m² in total. Of this, roughly 23 000 m² of GLA will be taken up by the community shopping centre, while 12 000 m2 will be dedicated to office and studio space for Urban Brew Studios, which is currently under construction.


The garden area will be converted into a parking area. The design of the new parking area pays homage to the existing space by incorporating interlinked landscaped areas and trees throughout.


Strategically located on the very busy Republic Drive in Ferndale, Randburg, the site is situated in an extremely densely populated middle-income market with more than 36 000 households within a 3.5 km radius, approximately 6 km from Cresta Shopping Centre.


The community shopping centre will be positioned as close to Republic Road as the site allows and anchored by Pick n Pay, Checkers, Dis-Chem and Clicks.


The centre will also have an array of new national retail shops and restaurants, ensuring that residents are treated to a first-class shopping and dining experience.
